Open competitors who want to make finals must compete in Session 1 or 2. All other competitors may compete in any session.
Format
The Flaming Ham is a modified redpoint-style competition. Here’s how it works:
Each category (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Open) will have 15 scorable problems set across the gym, each assigned a point value based on difficulty. The harder the climb, the more points it’s worth.
Climbers have their entire 2.5-hour session to attempt any problems they want, in any order, as many times as they want.
Your top 5 scoring sends count toward your final score. Bonus points are awarded for flashing a problem (sending it on your first attempt).
Climbers will be given a scorecard at check-in. A witness (another climber or staff member) must initial each send. Scorecards must be turned in at the scoring table before the end of your session. Late cards will not be counted.
Category placement is based on total score. Top 5 Open men and top 5 Open women advance to finals at 7:00 PM.
Finals Format: Onsight format. Finalists will climb 3 problems one at a time in front of the crowd.
