Canal Crusher 25
CRG Buffalo is super excited to bring back the Canal Crusher bouldering competition. This year, we are opening it up, to not just the climbing communities of Western New York, but Southern Ontario, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and anyone else who would like to visit our gym and city.
Climbers of all skill levels are invited to compete for thousands in cash and prizes! Awards will be distributed throughout a range of skill/score based categories.
- ANYONE can compete – CRG members and non-members
- ALL skill levels are encouraged to get in on the action
- Those competing in the open category can earn a chance to climb in the on-sight finals, where they can win cash + other prizes
- The citizen categories will feature prizes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced – awarded based on redpoint round scoring
- Special prizes, including farthest traveled, and other raffles
- Various vendor tables, games, and challenges will be ongoing throughout the day

Competitor Registration Categories:
OPEN ~V8+: Climbers must register for the open category (11am check-in) to have a shot at the finals and cash prizes
CITIZEN: Redpoint round scores will determine placement for citizen competitors within the categories below (grade ranges listed are approximate):
- Recreational ~V0 – V2
- Intermediate ~V2 – V5
- Advanced ~V5 – V7
Redpoint Round Details & Schedule:
- 40+ boulder problems
- Official scores will be the cumulative value of the top 5 completed problems
- If a qualifying open climber is unable to climb in the finals, the next highest open qualifier will be asked to compete
- Times below are for climbing, checking in and rules meetings will take place in the 30 min before each climbing window begins
Finals Details
- The top 5 male and female open category competitors from the redpoint round will qualify to compete in the on-sight finals round
- Anyone and everyone is strongly encouraged to attend – do some climbing, mingle with vendors, have a beer, and watch the finals
Cash prizes for male and female: 1st = $400 2nd = $200 3rd = $150
Event schedule
11:30am – 2:30pm climbing window: All open competitors + citizens (11am check-in)
3pm – 6pm climbing window: Citizens competitors only (2:30pm check-in)
7pm – Conclusion: Open category on-sight finals
