Beat the Heat XIX
What is Beat The Heat?
Although the all levels bouldering comp is the main event, Beat the Heat is much more than JUST a bouldering competition. It is the longest-running single-day climbing festival in the DMV and Sportrock's biggest annual member appreciation event. Nearly two decades ago, our now Executive Chair of the Board of Directors, Lillian Chao-Quinlan, had just taken over the company as President and had a vision to bring our climbing community closer together; Beat The Heat was born!
A lot has changed since the first iteration (which was held at Sportrock Sterling), but after 18 events, Beat The Heat is something you can always count on to bring the old-school community climbing gym vibes! The competition now features an exhilarating bouldering finals round, a rope climbing competition, and exciting festivities like crate stacking! We’re constantly tinkering with ideas on how to make each year’s Beat The Heat better than the last, and we're excited to show you what's in store for our 19th iteration!
